Interestingly, a year later, in the first AL season of 162 games, their total shot up to a then-record 240 while Roger Maris hit his historic 61 home runs. At the other end, the teams that have the lowest records are the Pittsburg Pirates with 171 and the Kansas City Royals with a total of 193.

Miguel Cabrera, who is under contract with the Tigers through 2023, could eventually leapfrog Kaline. The two-time AL MVP Award winner entered the 2020 season with 339 homers as a Tiger.
